Līga Ķempe interprets the image of the ancient goddess of love and beauty in the modern language of painting. The artist is inspired by the works of the classics of European painting - Sandro Botticelli, Lucas Cranach, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Titian, Francisco Goya, Peter Paul Rubens and Solomon Joseph Solomon. The cycle of works includes thirteen paintings in which Venus appears in two forms: as a monumental, plump female figure and as a small, girlish creature. In Līga Ķempe's works, the female body symbolizes strength, beauty and divinity. The paintings are characterized by a clear composition, plastic form, delicate line and carefully thought-out details.
