4th November till 22nd November. Contemporary Art of Japan.
In July this year international contemporary art fair ArtVilnius’11 took place in the capital of Lithuania -Vilnius. Most distant way to this exhibition had come a gallery from Japan „Nroom artspace” (director Noriko Maehara). Using the opportunity, gallery Birkenfeld invited Japan art dealer to visit Latvia with exhibition. „Along with era of enlightenment and development of civilization Western culture entered Japan. This provoked a wide Japan and Western styles mix. For people living in modern Japan Western culture has so deeply entered their everyday life that today we can not imagine our lives without it. Frequently asked question „What is typical for Japan?” became vitally important for us. Modern Japanese artists are in constant journey of their identity and expression. We hope that you will feel Japan in each artist’s work”, about modern Japanese art said the director of gallery Noriko Maehara. Significantly, that gallery cooperates also with European artists. In the exhibition will be presented Japanese artists - Tomoko Kanzaki, Kayoko Kobayashi, Kaori Sugai, Yasuyuki Tomita, Emi
Yokozeki, Kaori Shibatsuji, Aya Tashiro, Chihiro Hama, Maiko Suzuki and two from Europe Eva Mitala (Greece) and David Franklin (Ireland).
