From 14th October till 2nd November there is a rare opportunity to see in Lithuania well-known and popular artists - Laisvyde Šalčiūte and Kestutis Grigaliunas In order to clarify the impression left by Laisvyde Šalčiūte’s works the best is to imagine situation when walking through the exhibition hall suddenly stop in front of work that you can no longer pass by. The cycle’s of serigraphy works Orlando main hero is mysterious Mona Lisa of Leonardo Da Vinci. Courageous identity manipulations are being made to Mona Lisa’s image, depicting the various (also amusing) situations – giving a sexy body, changing clothes, etc.. It should be mentioned that the transformations are followed by intriguing, sometimes philosophical, ironic and even provocative texts, that make work like a message and … Mona Lisa preserves its mystery. Artist Kestutis Grigaliunas in his works initially was inspired by Fluxus ideology that unexpectedly “opened doors” of his interest in painting. In Lithuania he proudly is aligned with the 20th century art guru Endy Varhol and not without reason. Artist creates works in different techniques, but about the way how the works have been created he says: “I like to count and I count each day. Now I count points, thousand of points. Small and large, blue and white. Every day I count from one to thousand, two, and three thousand of points. Thousands of points on a sheet of paper or canvas. Can you imagine that with a few points you can create an object or person, show different situations, and discover emotions. It seems incredible! Try yourself! You can make it!”
