Jānis Gleizds (1924—2010) was a Latvian photographer. He participated in more than 800 exhibitions both in Latvia and abroad, receiving 170 medals. Born on May 7, 1924. From 1951 to 1994, Gleizds worked as a photographer at the Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics. Since 1957, he participated in exhibitions with black and white photography. Since 1977, he has been a member of the Latvian Photographic Artists Union. In 1979, he became an artist of the International Federation of Photographic Art (AFIAP). In 1985, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Merit. In the same year, he was included in the International Encyclopedia of Photographic Art of Switzerland. In 1988, he received the honorable title of Excellence of the International Federation of Photographic Art (EFIAP). In 1989, he became the laureate of the Mārtiņš Buclers Prize. On May 3, 1995, he received the Order of the Three Stars. Two documentary films about J. Gleizds were made in 1985 and 1991. In 1998, the photography album "Reflection of Light" by Jānis Gleizds was published. In photography, Jānis Gleizds has depicted landscapes, still life, portraits, but one of the main themes has always been Woman. He revealed her beauty in many of his works.
